Who am I ?

My name is Stéphane TORTELIER-GAMBIRASIO, and I am an international businessman.
Welcome to my semi-professional space, a place where I share thoughts and reflections that matter to me. I write about the world of computing and new technologies, but also about various social topics that spark my curiosity or move me personally.

Born into a multicultural family, I grew up between the sun of Mexico, the warmth of Panama, and the breeze of Brittany. Yet the place that truly shaped my heart and identity is Djibouti, a country in East Africa where I had the privilege of living for almost 15 years.
I arrived there when I was only one year old, and to this day I still consider Djibouti as my country, even though I was born in Nouméa, New Caledonia. The people, the culture, and the landscapes of Djibouti have deeply influenced who I am and remain part of me wherever I go.

I have also lived in the Caribbean, spending five years in Martinique and two years in Saint-Martin, experiences that further broadened my worldview and strengthened my love for cultural diversity.

I’ve traveled across the globe, learned to speak several languages, and — more importantly — to listen. These experiences shaped the person I’ve become: an ambitious man who has known both success and failure. I’m far from perfect, but I believe that growth comes through challenges, doesn’t it?

My professional path is quite diverse. I began my career in French bakery and pastry, a field I dedicated 14 years of hard work to, climbing through every stage; from production to management. Later, I shifted my focus to electronics repair, working with smartphones, tablets, video game consoles, and household appliances.
I also had the privilege of working with people with disabilities and those at the end of life, supporting them in their daily routines and helping them maintain their dignity until the very end.

In addition, I gained valuable experience in international import–export, both remotely and on-site, across various regions of the world.

Throughout my career, I’ve earned two professional degrees, but I’ve also learned a great deal through passion and practice because, as I like to say, a diploma doesn’t make the craftsman. Some people are overqualified on paper yet lack the ability to work with real skill and heart.

My formal qualifications include:

  • CAP in Bakery (French vocational certificate)

  • BTS in Transport and Logistics Services (equivalent to a two-year technical degree)

Beyond the professional side, I’m passionate about gastronomy, travel, video gamestechnology, and computing.
For the past few years, I’ve enjoyed building computers from scratch, which I then donate or resell at low cost to families in need.

I’m also a member of the Emmabuntüs organization a humanitarian and ecological project that promotes the reuse of computers by installing free and open-source operating systems, primarily Debian Linux. The goal is to extend the lifespan of hardware and make technology more accessible to everyone.
